In the past few decades we've seen the rise and fall of Christianity in the west in positions of power. With the election of Donald Trump we do see a rise of Christian Nationalism within the U.S.A. Is this scary? Short answer, yes. Historically we can look at what happens when democracy turns in to theocracy and it is never a good thing. It usually brings things such as losing rights for minorities and marginalized groups. As a Canadian Atheist, it is baffling to see the amount of Americans who simply don't seem to see that to rest of the world sees, they look stupid.

Now, this post isn't all about Trump and his herd, I am not here to attack a particular religion or group here, I want to attack them all. I want the world to see religion for what it truly is, a war machine. Every religious group claims the same exact thing:
-My prophet is the true prophet
-My religion is peaceful
-The world will all be "insert religion here" it is god's will
And they all face the same challenge, which is the burden of proof. This is where things usually escalate. The Bible is such an ancient book, same with the Torah, that they do have a lot of inaccuracies within them and contradictions. Which is totally normal for ancient books who were translated multiple times over the course of their existence. When it comes to the Quran, it is slightly different since it is a fairly new religion in comparison to the other Abrahamic Religions.
At the end of the day, they all claim the same things and predict similar outcomes.

I am a resident of Quebec, Canada and to me, some of the things we observe today are starting to get very scary. Seeing a rise in religious belief in a province that was known to be anti-religion and to also be an asylum for religious refugees is very odd. Seeing that in our highschools homophobia is on the rise and I can't help but to make the connection here.
People are getting radicalized.
"Why is that?" you may ask. Well it is simple, we are seeing a huge culture shift with mass immigration and the federal governement closing their eyes to the population's concern therefor the population reverts back to what it know and embraces which is culture and traditions. As most know, Quebec and the rest of Canada were founded on Christian values and traditions.
Now, it may seem that I agree with this but I really don't. I am a full on Atheist and I believe in individual freedoms and the freedom to criticize any practice that I see being wrong whether cultural or not.

We have created, as a society, this weird environement where people can freely say on the internet that the holocaust was good thing or that Christians are the worst but we cannot criticize Islam without being villainized for it and I understand why. Muslims are definitely a religious minority in the west but the media make them seem so much bigger but let's keep it honest here, there are reasons for that.
Muslims tend to be way more vocal and demonstrative when it comes to their beliefs. As an Atheist, I hate it. Just like I hate any religion to publicly display their delusions to the world. I hate when the U.S.A want to appear secular but are just a bunch of closeted Christian Nationalists or that Israel is simply a jewish state when it is so much more than that.
But right now, if you care for your marginalized friends, this rise in religious comfort should scare you.
History doesn't lie, every country where a religion comes into power, it creates violence, genocide and discrimination and I believe that as a society we cannot let this happen. I want to live peacefully with everyone but at this point, it doesn't seem like a possibility.
We need to come together as a society and figure out how we are going to do this. It seems that every major religious groups want to overtake eachother which is what is creating those tensions. While this is all happening, us Atheists are just waiting for shit to go south because it will. What we see in the world at the moment is mostly geo-political tension hiding behind a religious mask but the governements on every side of the conflicts are using religion to radicalize their populations to make it easier to push for war so that they can gain power.
