IGNITE THE GODS - Under A Thousand Suns

IGNITE THE GODS brings us their track, "Under A Thousand Suns". The band reached out to me via my personal Facebook page for a review, and as soon as I watched the video, I knew what to expect: Symphonic Deathcore. Is this a bad thing? Not at all. Despite the genre being quite saturated, they’ve managed to deliver a solid performance.

Would I listen to it in my free time? Honestly, no.

But that’s not due to the quality—it’s simply because this genre doesn’t resonate with me anymore. Now, let’s focus on the positives! The video production is impressive, the mix and mastering are well-done, and the guitar solo—despite me typically not being a fan of solos in deathcore—is actually fantastic.

Overall, I’d call this track a success. While symphonic deathcore may be an overcrowded space, some bands manage to stand out, and IGNITE THE GODS is definitely one of them.

Here’s my honest and unfiltered opinion:

I think they’re really solid. However, I feel they could benefit from moving slightly away from the symphonic elements and incorporating more groove into the riffs. This would help set them apart and avoid inevitable comparisons to Lorna Shore. While I don’t believe they're a copycat, these comparisons are common in the scene. That said, I love the overall sound, the aesthetic, and the presentation—it’s all very well done.

I wasn’t familiar with these guys before, but I’m glad I’ve discovered them now. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on them to see how they evolve over time.

My final rating is:

8/10
