HERREMENTARI — AGAINST LIFE

A full album, I am not going to lie here, I haven't listened to a full length in forever. Not that I dislike them I just have very bad ADHD haha.

The opening starts straight up with a Charles Manson quote and as someone from the old school deathcore scene, I like that. The first thing that hit me when the music gets on is that the drums are near impossible to hear sometimes. I fuck with the guitar tone heavy, like, it sounds like a chainsaw which is exactly what you want in the genre they're going for, which is, a mix of Slam, Deathcore, Beatdown and even some Hardcore influences in some parts. For some the production here could definitely be a turn off but to me, it's what deathcore sounded like when I first got onto the scene so I fuck with this heavily. The surgical precision of modern mixes don't really do it for me.

Every song somehow has it's identity, the reason why I say this is because generally speaking in Slam, they all sound the same. Which is not bad, it is what this genre is supposed to be. HERREMENTARI definitely brings that OG vibe, reminds me of one of my favorite band of all time in their beginnings in Waking The Cadaver. The use of samples, radio and vhs distortion makes it a dope piece of MySpace era Slam/Deathcore so if that's what you like, definitely give this release a shot.

One thing that stood out as my listen got further and further in, the mix doesn't seem to bother me as much. Probably because we've been conditioned with modern deathcore to have picture perfect mixes but after a while, you start to hear everything and you hear the intricacies in the samples and such.

My favorite track on the album was "Hating the problem, Hating the solution", it gave me depressive black metal vibes in some parts only to throw me off with slams and such. In some parts the vocals remind me of And Hell Followed With early records which is also very much welcome around these parts.

Now for the moment of truth, the moment my boy Antoni been waiting for, the rating.

Before we get there though, I want to take a second the appreciate the efforts that went into making this. Over time these guys will only get better and you  can tell there's immense potential though the imagery of the band, they take their sound seriously which I respect a lot.

On this, I give this release, due to the lack of drums in some parts a:

7/10

Thank you a lot for that review, it's truly appreciated and means a lot. You got a great understand of what we tried to make with this album, and good points made about our sound so it's very helpful. Cheers!
