Bram Stoker's Dracula (Novel, Movie)

The one and only, the classic, Bram Stoker's Dracula.

I watched this movie as a kid, I remember it so vividly, as a kid I was fascinated with how they made certain effects. Especially anything practical, I was always a huge fan of things like A Nightmare Before Christmas or even The Thing.

I love this kind of stuff, the way they'll film a scene sideways to make you believe that Dracula is walking on walls or even the way, they remove him from reflections, you can tell the way it was done because watching this movie today, you can easily spot the mistakes.

The movie is based off the novel of the same name. I actually read the novel the first time in highschool and didn't really enjoy it at all.

In my adulthood though, I decided to give it another shot and i'm glad I did.

Is it the best book I've ever read?

No.

But this book is still fairly interesting, the way that you don't really see Dracula all that much throughout the text but instead, you get vague descriptions, moment where they describe how atrocious it is to even be in his vicinity or Stoker will make you feel the heaviness in the air or the cold breeze in the foggy backyard.

It is well written.

Definitly on the harder side when it comes to literature if you aren't an avid reader.

Back to the movie, the cast is great. Seeing some of these actors being so young and fresh onto the movie scene is awesome.

In this movie, we can see a very young inexperienced actor in Keanu Reeves which is really awesome to see today!

As for the rating now, I will rate them both independantly.

Book:

5/10

Movie:

8/10
